Their conceptual models are useful insofar as they show the location of the fashionable areas in which the more powerful members of society in that town have decided to live, and that the less powerful (such as the middle-status residents) arrange themselves accordingly in the urban system in an attempt to emulate the values and life-style of those that they consider to be their superiors.
