Sans commentaire No commentary FromChina Anny against Party? Sin comentario Senza commento Whether the Party commands the gun or the gun commands the Party has always been an important question of principle in the struggle between the two army building lines. Ali opportunists are using every means at their disposal to interfere with and sabotage the absolute leadership of the Party over the army in a vain attempt to command the Party with the gun. The reactionary fallacy of the Party «grows out of the barre! of a gun» was fabrìcated by the bourgeois careerist and conspirator Lin Piao for the sake of creating a theoretical foundation for him to command the Party with the gun. We ,must criticize thoroughly this reactionary fallacy of Lin Piao. Actu,a.lly, does the Party grow out of the barre! of a gun or does the Par~y create the army? After tne. creation of our army, it fought heroically for the- cause of the liberation of the people under thè dir~ct leadership and commapd of the Chinese -Co~unist Party and Chairman Ma.o, and has always been an important tool for consistently implem;enting the · line. of the Party. The history ot struggle of our army. in the past 47;years has profoundly explained that only under the direct leadersqip and command of the 'Party and Chairman Mao could our army gr?w from nothing into something and !rom small to big. The story of how the people's armed forces grew up into a proletarian army under the leadership of the Party in the revolutionàry modem Peking opera «Azalea Mountaim> has vividly reflected the. histotjcal truth, and it is a telling criticism of the fallacy of Lin 1221·
